Working on Friday and Saturday nights between 10:30pm and 3:30am, the Night Rangers play a vital and expanding part in Hitchin BID’s delivery of a cleaner, brighter, safer and welcoming Hitchin town centre. They act as ambassadors for the town centre and communicate with members of the public to provide directions and advice as well as liaising with businesses and handling customer enquiries while promoting responsible citizenship in respect of litter, graffiti and related issues. They play a vital part is assisting with the reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour in partnership with the police to help improve perceptions of Hitchin town centre as a safe place, maintaining the effectiveness of Shopwatch and Pubwatch. The Night Rangers carry out extensive, foot patrols around the town centre and outskirts which fall within the Business Improvement District, in all weathers.
