Hitchin Chamber Orchestra 'Musical Prodigies'
Hitchin Chamber Orchestra will be celebrating ‘Musical Prodigies’ in our forthcoming summer concert as part of Hitchin Festival. We are looking forward to welcoming back Callum Smart as our soloist to play one of Mendelssohn’s earliest compositions – his Concerto in D minor for Violin and String Orchestra, written when he was just 13 years old – the same age that our illustrious soloist won the strings category of the BBC Young Musician of the year!
The programme also includes works by more readily known prodigies, Mozart and Rossini, as well as Coleridge-Taylor and William Lloyd Webber (father of Andrew and Julian).
David Murphy will be back to conduct us again.
Tickets in advance £14 adults/£7 children and students; on the door £16 adults/£8 children and students. Available online or from Hitchin Information.
