Hitchin Symphony Orchestra: A Trio of Romantic Voices

Join Hitchin Symphony  Orchestra for a compelling evening of Romantic music that brings together three intimately connected composers. Clara Schumann’s 4 Pièces caractéristiques, composed when she was just sixteen, reveal the early brilliance of a young pianist–composer whose artistry defied the expectations of her time.

The concert continues with Brahms’ lyrical and introspective Symphony No. 3, a work infused with warmth and restraint, reflecting his lifelong admiration for both Clara and Robert.

The evening concludes with Robert Schumann’s exuberant Symphony No. 3, the ‘Rhenish’, inspired by the landscapes and spirit of the Rhineland.
