North Herts Association of the National Trust
The next talk to the group will be “Hertfordshire Almshouses” by archivist Kate Thompson.
Almshouses provided a place of refuge for the ‘deserving poor’ and every county in the UK had a number of them, varying in size and in operation. A project some years ago created a database of every almshouse in the country and Kate Thompson provided the data for Hertfordshire. The talk will discuss the findings from that project in Hertfordshire and more widely.
Non members welcome £3 on the door.
