Knead & Desire Bakehouse

Knead & Desire Bakehouse is an award-winning small batch bakery making handcrafted organic sourdough bread.

Using only organic flour, water and salt, we make and bake everything in our shop in Hitchin.  Our bread is made through slow natural fermentation, typically 24-36 hours, aiding digestion and developing a deeper flavour, aroma and crust.​

Provenance of ingredients is important to us, and we pride ourselves on using only the highest quality ingredients and organic flour.  We increasingly sourcing our flour (and other ingredients) from local organic and sustainable farms and mills. ​

We make a wide range of breads and semi-sourdough pastries (we are told “the best in Hitchin”) alternating these through the week and weekly, available freshly baked daily in our shop in Churchgate.
